Featuring three members of Enslaved, the septet known as Trinacria can definitely be lumped into the experimental category, as their molten metal menagerie is sprinkled with dollops of oddball noise rock and avant-garde aggression. Originally commissioned for a one-off concert series, these musicians developed a strong bond and decided to forge ahead and make this a running project.
Tracks like “The Silence” break in and out of contorted shards of white noise before settling on a rickety tremolo guitar and pounding drum combo while the title track merges haunting female singing with a pervasive percussive heartbeat, culminating into a frantic display of chaos both musically and vocally.
Definitely leaning on the progressive side of the spectrum, approach Trinacria with the same freewheeling nature you would a Neurosis or Cult of Luna release for maximum enjoyment. www.season-of-mist.com
