If you are a fan of the comedian Bill Maher or are interested in understanding differing religious perspectives, then Religulous is a definite must see flick. Here are a few usages of rock music in this movie directed by Larry Charles [Borat].

“The Seeker” by The Who In the opening credits, this classic rock and roll tune has the viewer grooving in their seats. It sets the documentary’s tone perfectly as Bill Maher seeks answers to religious beliefs, as believers are seeking Jesus, God, Allah, aliens, and the end of the world. Interestingly, this track does not appear on the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack.

“Jesusland” by Ben Folds This track is included on the Soundtrack, obviously not as great of a song as “The Seeker;” The Who probably wanted way too much money. “Jesusland” is used as Maher visits a Christian theme park in Orlando, Florida.

“Walk Like An Egyptian” by The Bangles This classic 80’s tune is used by the film makers in order to show the similarities between the Egyptian god, Horus, and Jesus. It is also not on the Soundtrack.
