amazon-watchmenThe soundtrack to the highly anticipated superhero film Watchmen features classic cuts from Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Simon & Garfunkel, and KC and the Sunshine Band while My Chemical Romance offers a new track in the fast and catchy Dylan cover “Desolation Row.”

“Desolation Row” opens the soundtrack with a brief and softly played organ intro before erupting into punk rock bliss with shades of Poison’s “Fallen Angel” and “Talk Dirty To Me.” Singer Gerard Way does his best Johnny Rotten impression in the aggressive vocal melody and guitarist Ray Toro delivers a repetitive but fitting solo.

This soundtrack serves as a good compilation of classic rock tunes that should be part of all music fans’ libraries. However, if you already own them you should pass on the disc and download the MCR tune for 99 cents. B
