I have been so damn busy lately that it took me over two months to give The Damned Things’ Ironiclast a solid listen. This is the Anthrax-Fall Out Boy mashup, or, “supergroup” if you have the nerve to call it that.  Ironiclast has all the catchy hooks of a Fallout Boy album except The Damned Things have energy, talent, and Scott Ian’s goatee.

The best tracks are the hard driving “Ironiclast” and “Friday Night (Going Down in Flames),” the bad ass and bluesy “Black Heart,” and face smashing “Graverobber.”

Like FOB, some song titles on Ironiclast contain pop-culture references; the best one being “Handbook for the Recently Deceased” (I love the C.O.C. vibe on this one), and the worst one “We’ve Got a Situation Here” (see video).

This is a great hard rock offering and probably the most interesting collaboration since the disappointing Chickenfoot effort.  So far, I enjoy just about every riff that The Damned Things has to offer.

The Damned Things are Keith Buckley (Vocals), Joe Trohman (Guitars), Scott Ian (Guitars), Rob Caggiano (Guitars/Bass), & Andy Hurley (Drums).
