April 1, 2013 is here and along with this day of tomfoolery comes the Slayeriffic April Fool’s pranks. This morning Spencer Kaufman of LoudWire reported that members of Slayer and Anthrax will unite to form Slanthrax. Axl Rosenberg at MetalSucks reported that Jason Newsted will fill in for frontman/bassist Tom Araya.
Most readers at these highly respected metal blogs indicated in the comment sections that they “got the prank,” while others legitimately shared their contentment or disappointment of these “news” stories.
“Fake or not Lambardo should be the one drumming,” commented William Rahmer on LoudWire.
“My 6 year old son loves Jason Newstead. He will be delighted to hear this,” said Strapping Young Lad! on MetalSucks.
