#86. Mastodon / Best Bands of All-Time / Top 100

Mastodon is a relatively new metal band to make the Gears of Rock’s Top 100 Countdown. This band’s unique and effectively executed progressive-sludge approach lands them in the #86 spot. Their last two albums, “Crack the Skye” and “The Hunter,” propelled the band into the forefront of modern metal. Mastodon’s best songs are “Iron Tusk,” “Curl of the Burl,” “March of the Fire Ants,” “The Last Baron,” “Blood and Thunder,” “Colony of Birchmen,” and “Oblivion.”
