Godsmack is in the #92 spot on the Gears of Rock’s Top 100 Hard Rock and Heavy Metal Bands Countdown. Breaking through in 1998 with their self-titled debut album and single “Whatever,” Godsmack has been a mainstay on the modern rock charts for the past 15 years. The greatest songs of Godsmack are “Greed,” “Serenity,” “Keep Away,” “The Enemy,” “I Stand Alone,” “Awake,” “Speak,” “Crying Like a Bitch,” and “Voodoo.”
Best Song: “I Stand Alone” (2002)
Best Album: “Awake” (2000)
Best Tour: Godsmack Tour 1998/1999
Most Valuable Band Member: Sully Erna – Vocals
Best Moment: Opening for Metallica’s Madly in Anger with the World Tour in 2004
Fun Fact: The band takes its name from the title of an Alice in Chains song, although Erna has denied this. Either way, if there was never a Layne Staley, this band would not exist.
