“Map of Metal” Website Features Comprehensive Tour of Heavy Metal Genres

Here is a pretty cool site that features a map of heavy metal – it’s called “Map of Metal” – that includes explanations and examples of all the different sub-genres. Like Dante Alighieri in hell, you can travel to every major movement in heavy metal history.

As you tour the metal map, you can listen to several landmark tracks in each location. For example, in the Thrash section you get Metallica’s “Seek and Destroy” and in Neo-Classical you’ll find Yngwie Malmsteen.

Black Metal is broken down into a plethora of sub-sub-genres such as Greek Black Metal, Depressive, and the Second Wave of Black Metal. It’s a fascinating journey and site to stroll around. Check it out at

"Guitar Hero Metallica" Confirmed For 2009 Release

amazon-metallica-death-magnetic1Metallica has officially announced and confirmed a 2009 release of an “all Metallica” Guitar Hero game which will include the full band in the style of Guitar Hero World Tour and Rock Band. GH Metallica is expected to have 28 songs and will include some Alice in Chains, Machine Head, and Slayer tracks. Additionally, there is some sort of super expert mode with DOUBLE BASS PEDALS on the drums! []

Guitar Hero World Tour

Addendum: Metallica released the official trailer for the game and it looks sick. Can’t wait to play it and review it. The game would be even sicker if they thought to incorporate Cliff and Jason as special characters to unlock.
